Member self-service

Member Portal for Clubs and Associations

Give members a self-service portal for profile details, notification preferences, event registration and invoice history.

Member Link's member portal provides a place for members to use selected self-service features after magic-link authentication. Members can edit their profile, manage notification preferences, register for events and review invoice history, including a Pay Now flow where the organisation's Stripe configuration supports it.

Member access with a magic link

Portal access uses a sign-in link delivered to the member's email. The member needs access to that mailbox to authenticate. Household guardians can select represented members only when the organisation has established an appropriate household relationship and portal grant.

  • Keep member email addresses current.
  • Ask members to use their own mailbox and avoid forwarding authentication links.
  • Review and revoke household grants when relationships or responsibilities change.

Self-service members can use

The portal supports profile editing, notification preferences, event registration and invoice history. Members can use invoice payment when checkout is available through the organisation's connected Stripe setup. This is not a promise that members can change membership plans, renew any plan automatically or edit every field.

Guardian access is explicit

Household portal access is capability-based: an organisation can grant actions such as view, manage, pay, event registration and waiver signing for represented people. Grants are distinct from simply sharing an email address and can be revoked. Clubs should explain the access arrangement to members and keep the primary contact and payer accurate.

  • Worked example: a guardian may be allowed to register a dependant for an event and sign the related waiver, while not being granted unrelated household members' records.
  • The example describes configurable permissions; the exact grant must be checked in the organisation's portal settings.

What the portal does not replace

The portal is not the club's public website or a general website builder. Staff still control membership plans, financial reconciliation and administrative records. If your organisation needs member plan changes, automated recurring billing changes or custom portal branding, verify those requirements before choosing.

Good to know

Common questions

What can members do in the portal?

Members can edit profile information, manage notification preferences, register for events and review invoice history. Invoice payment is available through supported Stripe-connected flows.

How do members sign in?

The member portal uses magic-link authentication sent to the member's email. The member needs access to that email account to use the sign-in link.

Can a guardian manage a dependant?

An organisation can establish a household and grant a guardian specific portal capabilities for a represented member. Access is explicit, scoped and revocable; it is not automatically granted to every household member.
